A Bit About Me
Philip is a fully qualified exercise/therapy professional and is registered as a level 4 Specialist Exercise Instructor with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) and has been a member of the Complementary Therapy Association (CTHA) for over 20 years.
He began his career in the health and fitness industry in 1999 as a freelance fitness instructor and sports massage therapist. In 2002 Philip qualified as Pilates instructor and now specialises in teaching Pilates classes and providing one to one tuition/therapy sessions in his studio.
The basic principles which underpin Pilates based exercises e.g. core stability, good posture, form the foundation for all of the fitness/rehabilitation programmes he designs.
In 2008 Philip graduated with an MSc in Physical Activity Exercise and Health, and in 2011 Philip completed his Equipment Certification.
Philip is passionate about the benefits of an active lifestyle and actively promotes the benefits of non-invasive treatment modalities. He is particularly interested in how exercise can help to prevent and correct musculoskeletal imbalances.
What is Pilates
Pilates is a unique form of body conditioning that integrates muscle control, breathing, flexibility, strength training and body awareness. Pilates promotes physical harmony and balance for people of all ages and physical conditions while providing a refreshing / energizing workout. Dancers and athletes use Pilates to prevent injury and improve performance. It can also be effective for relieving chronic back and neck pain.
Mat Pilates Classes
Strengthen and Lengthen
Group sessions using small apparatus and body weight. Mat classes are designed to target key postural muscles through a progressive programme of strengthening and stretching.
Support and Challenge
Beverley Pilates Studio offers private and semi-private equipment-based sessions.
The studio provides state-of-the-art equipment: Trapeze Table / Reformer / Combo Chair / Pilates Acr / Corealign - that can support and challenge movement. This makes it particularly safe in rehabilitation but equally suitable for improving athletic performance.
Following an assessment, we will design a programme specifically for you and review your goals/progress regularly.
